Physics of Sports Video
For this project groups were assigned to create a video explaining how physics could help you during a sports activity. My group chose to explain the physics behind jumping a mountain bike. To begin our project we created a script and storyboard for our movie. Once we knew what we were going to say and do during the film we began to record some of the voiceovers. Over one of the weekends Andrew and I traveled out to Stafford Lake Bike Park to film some action shots with my GoPro Hero 4. After we gathered all of our footage I began the editing process on my Macbook using iMovie. After a lot of revisions our movie was completed into what you see below.

Concepts
Force- Force is identified as either a push or pull. It is calculated by using the equation mass*velocity=force*time. Using this equation we calculated the force of my bike and I landing after the jump. The force equaled 238.7 N or 53.7 lbs.
Velocity/Speed- Velocity is speed with a direction while speed is without a direction. They are both calculated by dividing distance over time. The total velocity of my bike and I was 9 m/s or 20 mph.
Potential Energy- Potential energy is how much energy something has in a certain position. It is calculated my multiplying mass, acceleration, and height. The potential energy of my bike and I at the highest point of my jump was 786.35 J.
Reflection
I had a blast working on this project, mainly because I am an active mountain biker. Even though we were only a group of three, I believe that our movie was one of the better ones. Something that I did great was getting the right shots at the bike park and putting them all together into an organized video. I also took leadership during this project and kept my group on task as best I could. Something that I could work on is planning more before starting the actual project. I could have also worked on staying on task more because sometimes I would talk to people during class about unrelated topics. Overall I believe the project went well and was a huge success.
